A Jersey non-profit community initiative in the Parish of St. Brelade with three aims and objectives: 1) Social - to bridge the generation gap by bringing all age groups together in a social, constructive and educational setting, and to bring parishioners together in general with a common purpose. 2) Environmental - to help the Parish reduce waste and its carbon footprint by giving Parishioners an alternative option to disposing of faulty items and replace with new ones when they can often be repaired, reused or repurposed - recycling being the last resort. 3) Educational - to encourage people to see and learn how to repair things, and to give them the knowledge and confidence to repair things themselves in future, rather than automatically disposing of them and replacing them, because ‘repair would probably cost more than a new one'. The concept was originally proposed by Max Livesey at a meeting of the St. Brelade Climate Change Action Groupin September 2020. With the backing of the Parish, Max and Simon then organised the first pop-up session in October 2020 and with the help of many more volunteers, the sessions have continued (Covid permitting). This is a local community project in Jersey in the Channel Islands, Gt. Britain (not NJ, USA).
