Neutral Futures Limited

Neutral Futures is a company formed by a group of local entrepreneurs who saw firsthand the effects of deforestation on local communities. Based in Mauritius they have offices in South Africa, Mozambique & Zimbabwe. Neutral Futures manage African forests using the REDD+ model which focuses on avoided deforestation, reforestation & income-generating intitaives for local communities. We aim to fund these projects through the sale of voluntary carbon credits (VERs). Nyatana, our Zimbabwean project, is an area of 47,093ha of natural woodland situated in Zimbabwe, on the Western border of Mozambique. If we were to assume an exponential rate of deforestation - without our intervention - the Nyatana forest would be gone by 2028. The Nyatana REDD+ Project has been operational for over 2 years. Our model places a large emphasis on local community involvement & income-generating schemes. We also offer education on environmentally responsible farming methods to encourage long term protection of the flora & fauna. Our Nyatana project should generate a minimum of 3.5 million VERs. Chipembere, our project in Mozambique is 125,000ha with an estimated output of 15 million VERs in total & is currently in the process of being set up based on the Nyatana model. Neutral Futures also has a consulting arm offering carbon management advice to companies partnering with The Climate Standard, a 3 step carbon management system covering calculation, reduction & off-setting of carbon emissions.
