Belun

NGO Belun was founded in 2004, the organization focuses on conflict resolution and prevention, community capacity development and research. Over the last decade, Belun has been working in all the 13 Municipalities in Timor-Leste and has conducted a variety of Projects, Programs and Research interventions aimed at engaging local communities in the consolidation of peace and in the advancement of sustainable and inclusive development in Timor-Leste. As part of its mandate, Belun has been engaging with youth and women in both rural and urban areas in capacity building activities and researches on a variety of topics ranging from, but not limited to, conflict transformation, gender, civic education and employability. Belun's interventions are designed and implemented together with Local Authorities such Administrators, Village Chiefs and Village Councils members, youth and women leaders. In particular, Belun has been working with vulnerable and marginalized societal groups like people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ and religious minorities, providing inclusive and equal development opportunities as well as advancing their rights and dignity. The team at Belun team draws from across the international development sector and maintains a strong relationship with Columbia University's Center for International Conflict Resolution (CICR). The team also posses extensive experience working with both government and non-governmental sectors, providing comprehensive insight and capacity to the organization.
