Bakala Foundation

From an art gallery to schools, from churches to hospitals, Zdeněk Bakala has been sponsoring a wide variety of causes and projects since long before the Zdeněk Bakala Foundation was established. Informed by his own experience leaving Czechoslovakia in search of a better education and, in turn, a better life, Zdeněk Bakala's contributions have always gravitated towards cultural or intellectual development. So in 2007, when the Zdeněk Bakala Foundation was created to better accommodate the diverse requests for financial assistance that he received, education naturally stood out as the most valuable investment that could be made. With that in mind, our Scholarship program began to take shape. Now, the Zdeněk Bakala Foundation's Scholarship program is here to help talented and determined individuals reach their full potential by giving them the financial support they need to pursue a first-class university education abroad. A top-notch academic experience gave Zdeněk Bakala the skills he needed to make his own success happen; our Scholarship program gives gifted, ambitious young people the same opportunity. This doesn't mean that other types of giving have come to an end. On the contrary, the Foundation continues to support a range of other projects in areas such as science, culture, health care, sports, and the environment.
